TUESDAY STUDIES
Tuesday Treasures
Start date: September 15, 2009
When: 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Where: Activity Center
Leader: Laura Huizenga
We begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Activity Center with coffee and treats and a time of fellowship, followed by a time of large-group worship, and small group discussions of the lesson. Our purpose is to bring women to maturity in Jesus Christ by grounding them in God's Word. Childcare is provided on a pre-registered basis.
Women can choose between two “tracks” of Bible study:
Track A: Start the year with a Precept-Upon-Precept study of 2 Samuel and I Chronicles, looking at the life of David. Finish the year with a Precept New Inductive Study of the Book of Revelation.
Track B: In the fall, study the book of Genesis, and move on to Paul’s letter to Titus in the spring. Both studies are from the LifeChange Series by NavPress.
Evening Treasures
Start date: September 15, 2009
When: 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Where: Room 201
Leader: Patti Gregerson
Women of all ages gather together on Tuesday evenings to “dig in” to God’s Word. This year we will study the Book of Isaiah. This Precept-Upon-Precept Inductive Study will be a year-long adventure in discovering what God has to say to us through His Prophet Isaiah.
Isaiah Part 1 - The Word of the Holy One to Israel, the Remnant, and the Nations . . . and the Promise of the Child to Be Born (14 lessons) (chapters 1 - 39) - Isaiah is the crown jewel of Old Testament prophets, a book that strikes awe in the heart of its reader. Prophecies from Isaiah are mentioned in twenty-two places in the Gospels, Acts, and Romans. The words of Isaiah were often found on the lips of Christ, the Messiah prophesied in Isaiah. If Jesus, God incarnate, honored this grand and glorious book so highly, then you and I ought to do the same. In Isaiah Part 1, we’ll meet the Holy One of Israel, and learn how He deals with those who claim Him as God but don’t honor Him as God in the way that they live. And we’ll find the destiny of nations, the future of all mankind . . . including ours.
Isaiah Part 2 - Comfort My People (9 lessons) (chapters 40 - 66) - In Isaiah 40-66 the Lord told Isaiah to speak kind words to Israel. He wanted to comfort His people with His words. After their punishment for sins, there will be great restoration for them. This study will give you a taste of the world’s future.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT STUDIES
Study of the Book of James
Start date: September 16, 2009
When: 6:45 - 8:00 p.m.
Where: Reception Room
Leader: Diane Johnson and Janet Hawkinson
You are welcome to join this group of women as we study God’s Word together. The study is yet to be determined. We will do our lessons at home, meet each week to discuss the chapter and encourage one another in our walk with Jesus Christ. We also share needs, pray together, support each other and grow together. Childcare and children’s activities are available as part of Wednesday family night activities.
Growth Through Discovery
The Gospel of Matthew
Start date: September 16, 2009
When: 6:45 - 8:00 p.m.
Where: Room 201/203
Leader: Jeanne Howse and Becky Smyth
Matthew provides the bridge that links the Old Testament with the New Testament. The Old Testament prophets had clearly and strongly declared that the Messiah would come and establish His kingdom rule over all the earth. Matthew wonderfully reveals that Jesus is that long awaited King ("Son of David"), and it closes with His proclamation, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and in earth" (28:18). Matthew begins with the miracle of His virgin birth and ends with the miracle of His resurrection. As we study this marvelous book, we will grow deeper in our understanding of the life of the Lord Jesus Christ, and what it means to follow Him. Matthew is truly a glorious book which deepens our understanding of God and makes us increasingly aware of our great need for His grace.
In this class we endeavor to help each person learn how to study the Bible. We pray for one another, and we earnestly desire to help one another grow in our love for Christ and in obedience to His Word.
