AWANA stands for the message of 2 Timothy 2:15, Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. It is a 50+ year-old nondenominational international ministry that assists churches in reaching children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and training them to serve Him. AWANA features a fun-filled game time, a handbook time that focuses strongly on Scripture memorization, and a story time that often involves the testimony of Christian adults and helps children see how the Christian witness can be integrated into everyday life.
AWANA offers a series of clubs geared to meet the needs of particular ages or grades. Cubbies is for boys and girls 3-5 years old as of Sept. 1 and not yet in Kindergarten. Sparks is for boys and girls in Kindergarten through grade 2. Truth and Training (TNT) is for boys and girls in grades 3-6 includes an intensified focus on Scripture application in everyday life.
Cubbies spends most of the evening in their classrooms. Sparks begins in the Activity Center and dismisses from Room 210. Truth and Training begins in classrooms and dismisses from the lower Fellowship Hall.
